About Me

Hey Y’ALL.

Did you know that’s an acronym I made up for “You are loved, lady!”?  Yep.  It is, and you really are 😊.  But I digress.

I’m Kristina.  I also answer to “Krissy”, “Kaby”, “Mommy”, “Sis”, “Mrs. B” and even “Doc” every now and then.

I’m a lover of life, seeker of adventure, champion of mental health, proponent of healthy relationships, and advocate for all things domestic life-related.  I happen to also have a few degrees (BA in Education, MA in Professional Counseling, and Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy--still a work in progress), am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Life Coach.  But most importantly, I’m an around-the-way girl who just loves meeting new people, getting all up in their business, and helping them figure out this thing we call life, all while serving my own people as a wife of 16 years and counting and boy-mom x3!

I was born and raised in Washington, DC, and from the age of 12, I’ve known exactly what I wanted to do with my life—coach and counsel folks toward a happier and more fulfilling life.  At the risk of dating myself, I actually earned the nickname “Ricky Lake” in high school because I was always giving relationship advice to friends dealing with boyfriend/ girlfriend drama.

Obviously, I’ve come a long way since then, and while the personal, academic, and professional development I’ve experienced over the past 25+ years has honed my craft and sharpened my counseling and coaching skills and expertise, my passion and purpose has only come full circle and materialized into a full-time career as a Professional Counselor and Life Coach. I’ve worked in Domestic Violence counseling and Christian Lay ministry, outpatient mental health and private group practice as an individual, couples and family therapist. Most days, I wake up and can’t believe I get to do what I love most and make a living doing it

Some of my favorite hobbies and past-times include hosting family gatherings, traveling domestically and abroad, all things adventure, spending quality time with my husband and sons, attending cultural events and lots and lots and lots of girl talk.  I’m also a chronic social media post-er and scroller.  I love people-watching and probably would have made a pretty good anthropologist in another life!  I live by strong Christian convictions and the personal philosophy “Love God and love people!”  I believe that life really is just that simple and love is really all that matters.  God created the family system before even creating the Church, and I’m fully vested in the work of building healthier families for a healthier world, beginning with my own.

MY APPROACH

Unpack your problems and discover real solutions, collaboratively.

I am a teacher at heart having spent 16 years in the classroom as a formal educator. My coaching style is, therefore, educational and interactive. In session, we will collaboratively unpack the problems you’re facing and explore possible solutions.

There’s a 99% chance that you will leave each session with homework to complete— typically some cognitive or behavioral exercise to practice.

At the start of each session, we’ll spend a few minutes reviewing the homework and any insights gained. Sessions will feel like a casual conversation with a supportive friend and will be tailored to appeal to your learning style and personality.
